— What you get

B2 buckets as drives.

Buckets mount as drives.

Every B2 bucket you can access shows up in Finder, Explorer, or your Linux file manager. Open files in any app and save back to B2 directly. No upload step.

Bucket-scoped mounts.

Mount the full account or restrict to a single bucket. Application key permissions flow through — ExpanDrive can't do anything your B2 credentials can't.

Stream on demand.

No full sync. B2 objects stream when you open them, cache locally for fast re-open, and live in the cloud the rest of the time. Pin folders for offline if you need them.

— Power features

B2 with S3-grade tooling.

Application Key auth — keychain stored.

Generate a per-app Application Key in the B2 console with the permissions ExpanDrive needs. Secret stored in your OS keychain. Never persisted to disk in plaintext.

S3-compatible API path.

B2 ships an S3-compatible endpoint. ExpanDrive uses it — meaning the same connection capabilities as Amazon S3: bucket-scoped mounts, sub-path scoping, region-aware endpoint configuration.

— Cross-platform

B2 on every OS.

macOS

Apple File Provider extension. Buckets appear in Finder. Apple Silicon native.

Windows

User-selectable drive letter per bucket. Signed MSI installer.

Linux

Native .deb / .rpm packages. Buckets mount at standard Linux mount points and work with every Linux app — including dev tools and CLI workflows.

— Common questions

Common questions about B2 on ExpanDrive.

Application keys, B2 pricing, S3-compatible endpoints, and what happens when you outgrow B2's free tier.

Use a generated Application Key, NOT the Master Application Key. The Master key isn't S3-compatible — it only works with B2's native API, which ExpanDrive doesn't use. Create an Application Key in the B2 web console with the permissions ExpanDrive needs (typically all buckets, read/write).
